SXEMA
From community to studio.
I built a place for people to explore digital fashion together, then developed it into a CGI production studio that kept art, exhibitions and shared learning at its core.

Before SXEMA became a production studio, it began as a creative community. I organised free lectures and informal meetings where people could discover digital fashion, exchange knowledge and meet collaborators while the field was still taking shape.
The first event I organised was a SXEMA collaboration with Kruzhok. We explored what digital fashion could become. These early encounters established the way I wanted to work: making experiments together and sharing what we learned.
From experiments to production
Creative projects helped us develop our methods, relationships and a shared visual language. Over time, I built a commercial production practice around that foundation, delivering CGI and digital-fashion work for brands while continuing our own art projects.
I owned the production cycle from client briefing and creative pitches to execution and final delivery. I assembled multidisciplinary teams of CGI artists, designers and animators, led teams of up to 15, and managed short-form production budgets of up to $30,000.
The studio delivered more than 150 commercial and creative projects. Clients included Kappa, Levi’s, Converse, Uber, Befree and Ekonika, alongside work for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. The work was collaborative; each project depended on the artists and specialists involved.

A community alongside the studio
I built and led a community of more than 60 CGI artists, growing to around 70 artists across 3D, digital fashion and generative imagery. The community was wider than any individual production team.
Within SXEMA, I curated and delivered more than ten digital-art exhibitions and represented our work at more than 25 industry events. Free knowledge-sharing, public talks and experimental art remained part of the practice as commercial production grew.
Our two Moscow pavilions in 2023 brought these strands together: digital fashion and art exhibitions, 32 speakers and a week of public programming.

My role was to connect people, ideas and the practical conditions for making. I developed projects, brought collaborators together, found opportunities to present their work and built the production processes that let us take on larger briefs.
The same approach later informed my educational work: turn an individual experiment into knowledge, tools and opportunities that other people can use.

A physical home
at Supermetall
I rented a space at Supermetall in Moscow and turned it into a showroom for SXEMA. We installed large screens, including an LED display, to show work by our community’s artists. Digital art became part of the physical place where we met, worked and welcomed visitors.
The opening brought the team, collaborators and guests together. The space connected our production practice with the public life of the community.
